Tip: Using Pre-made Cookie Dough for Cookie Shapes
Updated: Aug 26
You can use pre-made cookie dough to make cookies of different shapes! It's not what the cookie dough was designed for or the best cookie dough for it -- but it can work!
It works best for simple shapes.
Something you need to know is that the pre-made cookie dough will rise and spread in the oven,
so when you shape your cookies before baking,
the cookies will not be the same shape as when you put them in the oven (before baking).
Tip: When you take your cookies out of the oven, right then when they are still hot, you can use a butterknife to further shape your cookies into your desired shape. Be careful! The baking sheet is still hot.
** You have to do it right after they come out of the cookie when they are still hot -- once they harden; you can't do this.
You could also use a cookie cutter at this point to shape your cookie if you want -- especially a metal one.
I figured this tip about using pre-made cookie dough and shaping it when I came up with a fun cookie art project for Thanksgicing. 3-D Turkey Brookies! Now that I've been working on my cookie and cake decorating skills; I think this year's will be even better. :)
Give it a try! We are good at this!
