Tip: Separating Out Dried Soup Into Different Vegetables --> for Different Recipes!

Updated: Aug 26

Dried soup mix w/ vegetables isn't just for soup! You can use it for different recipes! This may be helpful if you aren't able to get the vegetables you want at the grocery store or if you only want a small amount of vegetables for your dish or if you are cooking are 1 or 2 portions.

I came up with this tip because I was wanted to make different recipes of beef stew or fried rice for myself. Normally, I would buy some carrots from the salad bar (another tip! :) ) at the grocery store or maybe one carrot.

When I was looking at buying canned vegetables, then I would have to buy 6 or 12 cans. I didn't think I would eat that many. Instead, I decided to buy a dried soup mix w/ vegetables and separate them out -- while I watched TV. I put them in different plastic bags and use them in a different recipes.

I have actually done this before with multicolored sprinkles. I separated them out into little cups with different color sprinkles. This has been helpful for me when I'm doing different cookies or cakes and only want 1 or 2 colors -- instead of multi-color sprinkles.

I just did this while I was watching TV. This soup has carrots, peas, celery, onions, red peppers, spinach flakes, maybe a few other things.

Ingredients/Supplies:

- Dried Vegetable Soup

- Plastic Bags

I just put some on a plate and then separated them out. Then, I put them in different plastic bags.

Another tip: The carrots and red pepper flakes look similar -- both orange / orange-red. It is faster to first just separate out all the orange things and then go back (if desired) and separate out red peppers from carrots).

** This may apply to the soup mix you get -- the principle is if something is similar in color or whatever, then separate it out quickly and then you can go back and sort further.

I didn't separate out everything as you can see at the bottom of the plate. I just put all of the rest of the "sorted, but not completely sorted" soup mix in a separate bigger plastic bag. You could just put it back into the big bag the soup comes in.

Obviously, you can always just eat the soup and use the whole soup mix (rehydrated) in different reicpes, but if you only want some of them -- then this may be helpful to you.

There is another photo with all the different vegetables in different bags.

Give it a try! We are good at this!
