Sleep Emoji Cupcakes for "Festival of Sleep" Day (Jan 3.)
Updated: Jan 18
I came up with these Sleep Emoji cupcakes for the "Festival of Sleep" Day (Jan 3.) They are easy to make & there's a little twist for the Zzzs which makes it sort of 3-D.
Check out the video on how to make them on YouTube:
I love these weird & wacky holidays, especially ones where it says "the origins of this unofficial holiday are unknown." Haha. :)
What is the Festival of Sleep Day?
"While the origins of this unofficial holiday are unknown, we assume that the holiday encourages people to catch up on their sleep post-holiday and New Year celebrations. "
What I used:
- White frosting
- Yellow food coloring
- Black gel icing
- White Chocolate (melted) for the Zzzs
- Dark Chocolate (melted) for the Zzzs
- Cooking spray (for making the Zzzs)
Equipment: Knife for frosting cupcakes. For the Zzzs: Parchment paper, Ziploc bag, White Chocolate & Dark Chocolate, Bamboo Skewer/Toothpick
For the emoji face:
Mix in some yellow food coloring with some white frosting. Frost the cupcake. Use black gel icing to form the face.
For the Zzzs:
First I sprayed the parchment paper with cooking spray.
Next, in 2 separate Ziploc bags, I melted white chocolate & dark chocolate on defrost/50% setting at 30-second & 15-second intervals.
I snipped the corners of the Ziploc bags to pipe the Zzzs on to the parchment paper.
Pipe a sort of rhomboid shape with the white chocolate. If you are not happy with your shape while it is still warm, you can use a bamboo skewer/toothpick to move the chocolate around a little bit (see picture)
Start on the bottom of white rectangle and pipe your Zzzs in dark chocolate. If you start on the bottom. If you mess up a little on the first one it doesn't matter because you are sticking that part in the cupcake (see photo).
Put in the fridge to set.
Put it together! Stick your Zzzs into the emoji cupcake. :)
They are really cute. See the final product below!
They are good for "Festival of Sleep Day" or if you are making different emoji cupcakes. :)
Give it a try! We are good at this!
