Rocks by a Pond Nature Cookies (/ Collect Rocks Day)

Here is a cookie design I came up with inspired by "Collect Rocks" Day! If you have a nature or outdoors themed get-together or if you just feel like it, you can make these cute cookies! :) You can also use these ideas to decorate a cake!

I am a collector type person and I am the type of kid that would collect rocks. Haha! :)

Sept. 16 is "Collect Rocks" Day!

What I used:

- Decorating sugar cookie base; not soft sugar cookie (see link)

- Blue Jolly Rancher (pond / lake)

- Chocolate Rocks

- Duncan Hines vanilla frosting

- Green food coloring

- Copper food coloring (not shown)

(Note: Copper came in the 12-pack of gel food coloring I got)

- Silicone mold (little circles)

- Ziplock bag

- Hammer

These are the cookies I made. You could buy a plain cookie too. Haha! :)

To make the pond / lake, I crushed some blue Jolly Ranchers with a hammer. Then I re-melted them down in this silicone mold and let them harden again into this round shape.

You could just crush them and put them into little piles on parchment paper sprayed with cooking spray, which would give you more irregular natural shapes for your ponds / lakes.

I learned how to do this when I attempted to make Galaxy Lollipops a couple times -- still haven't successfully done this (haha!), but I learned some cool techniques like this one. :)

I colored the frosting this cool dark green color by using Green Food coloring and a touch of Copper food coloring.

Then I put the frosting on the cookie with the blue pond and I put some rocks by the pond. :)

Give it a try! We are good at this!
