Rigatoni w/ Eyes / World Sight Day
This is a super cute easy pasta plating idea, which was inspired by momendeavors.com on Pinterest. I'm posting it for World Sight Day (Get it, Eyes! Haha!); however, as you might imagine momendeavors posted it as a Halloween idea. It's fun and easy any day of the year! :)
World Sight Day
It is sponsored by the International Agency to Prevent Blindness on the second Thursday in October.
"International Key Messages
Globally in 2020,
At least 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment that may or may not be addressed.
Of those, at least 1 billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be addressed
In addition, 2.6 billion people have myopia, including 312 million children under 19 years of age
Additionally, millions of people are living with eye conditions that increase their risk of sight loss:
196 million people living with age-related macular degeneration
146 million people living with diabetic retinopathy
76 million people living with glaucoma
5 million people living with trachomatous trichiasis
277 million people living with high myopia"
What I used:
- String Cheese
- Cream cheese + Black gel food coloring (pupils)
- Marinara sauce
Note: As I noted in the Lion Pizza post (link below), a lot of times I just use string cheese because it's in small individual packages and I don't have to worry about it going bad. But here the shape of string cheese is helpful for the eyes.
Lion Pizza w/ Parmesan Crisp Mane
I just boiled some rigatoni.
To make the eyes, I made some slices. Then I mixed some cream cheese with black food coloring. I snipped the corner and put some black cream cheese on each conjunctiva.
I put some sauce down and I plated the rigatoni upright. Then I put the eyes on top! So cute! Give it a try! We are good at this!
