Talk Like a Pirate Day
"John Baur (“Ol' Chumbucket”) and Mark Summers (“Cap'n Slappy”) created this holiday on June 6, 1995. Out of respect for World War II’s D-Day, Baur and Summers chose to move the date of the holiday to September 19.
International Talk Like A Pirate Day was a low-key event until 2002 when it received media attention via syndicated humor columnist Dave Barry. Today, it is celebrated around the world as a way to raise funds for charity organizations, such as Childhood Cancer Support and Marie Curie Cancer Care."

What I used:
- Pillsbury Pizza Dough (1/3 or part of a roll; I was making a smaller version for myself, but I like how it turned out with the torn piece of dough. With the uneven edges, it looks more like a real worn out scroll of paper!)
- Tomato Sauce
- Mozzarella
- Red Peppers (X for X Marks the Spot)
- Pepperoni (cut into pieces for the gold)
- Cilantro (Palm Trees)
- Pretzel sticks (Palm Trees)
- Cream Cheese
- Black food coloring (for the path)
- Toothpick (to make sailboat with red pepper)
I didn't end up using the green pepper. The differences from the Betty Crocker version are that I used cilantro for the palm trees (vs. green peppers) and I drew out the path in cream cheese I colored black with food coloring (vs. olives). Obviously, you could do that.
As noted above, I used 1/3 or part of a roll; I was making a smaller version for myself, but I like how it turned out with the torn piece of dough. With the uneven edges, it looks more like a real worn out scroll of paper! :)

I added some tomato sauce and cheese for the blank canvas.

Here is the sailboat. So cute!
I just cut 2 slices of red pepper -- one more of a triangle for the sale and the other a boat shape.
I also cut 2 thin strips of red pepper for the X for the X marks the spot.

Here's a photo right before I drew the path in cream cheese colored black.
Oh and I added 1 more tree. :)
Here's a couple views of it! So cute! And yummy, it's just pizza! :)
