No-Knead Cheese-Stuffed Tomato Bread (Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup All-In-One!)

This bread is like grilled cheese and tomato soup all in one! The bread is made with tomato sauce and frozen cheese cubes, which became ooey goodness when you bake the bread!

It's Homemade Bread Day!

There's a fun brief timeline on the history of bread on this website.

What I used:

- 1 1/2 cups of flour

- 1/2 tsp active yeast

- 3/4 tsp salt

- 1/2 cup of water

- 1/4 cup of marinara sauce

- 1/2 cup or more of semi-hard, but melty cheese in cubes about 1/2" inch big (This is cheddar from Wisconsin that came in a block. You can use cheese cubes or string cheese cut into 1/2" inch pieces. You do not want to use shredded cheese because the dough will absorb the cheese rather than have melty goodness after baking)

Steps/Instructions:

1.) Slice cheese into about 1 cm. / 1/2" inch cubes and then put in the freezer (for 8-12 hours/overnight; while the dough is rising).

2.) Add yeast to warm water. If your water is cold out of the tap, microwave for 15-20 seconds, but no more. (** You don't want to kill the yeast)

3.) Mix in flour, salt, water and marinara sauce with a wooden spoon handle.

If the dough seems too dry, add a little marinara sauce or water a tablespoon at a time.

The dough can be kind of shaggy, if it seems too wet add a little more flour

4.) Cover with Saran Wrap and let rise for 8-12 hours  (or overnight) on the counter at room temp.

If using a metal or glass bowl, heat up the bow for 20-30 sec. on a burner to activate the yeast.

5.) In the morning, preheat oven to 450 degrees and put your Dutch Oven in there to warm up for 15-20 min.

6.) Meanwhile, put your dough on parchment paper.

7.) Make a little dip in the middle, add in your cheese and wrap your dough around the cheese.

8.) After 15-20 min., carefully with oven mitts, remove the HOT Dutch Oven and place your parchment paper+dough into the oven and cover it.

9.) Bake covered for ~20 min., then bake uncovered for ~10 min.

Enjoy your homemade cheesy tomato bread! So cheesy and good! Give it a try! We are good at this!
