Mushroom & Gruyere Toast w/ Onion Soup (from the DMV!)

Here is another recipe idea I got from the DMV. :)
Mushroom & Gruyere Toast w/ Onion Soup
What I used:
- Sourdough boule (I felt like getting that instead of a baguette)
- Soup ice cubes
In the video, they made onion soup from scratch, I had some onion soup ice cubes I had saved from making French Onion Soup Dumplings (link). Yes, soup ice cubes. I just microwaved them for 60-90 sec. and had some hot tasty soup!
Tip: If you have extra soup or broth, I recommend you freeze it into ice cubes, so you can save time in the future & use it later.
In the video, they use small crostini sized pieces of bread. I felt like getting a sourdough boule instead of a baguette, so my piece of bread was bigger and I made more of an open-faced sandwich rather than an appetizer. :)
I sauteed the mushrooms and preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
I put some cheese and sauteed mushrooms on a piece of bread and put it in the oven to melt the cheese.
We are good at this! I put the toast and soup together and yum! It was a really tasty recipe idea -- from the DMV!
