Meatball Ghosts / "Mini Meatloaf Ghosts"

I got this from Chef John on YouTube! So cute! Perfect for Halloween or anytime of year! I came up with a few tricks based on what I had. :)

What I used:

- Kroger Pork Meatballs

- Provolone cheese (forgot to get Ultra Thin slices as he says in the video; so I came up with tricks :))

- Prego tomato sauce

- Garlic powder (just to add more flavor to the tomato sauce)

I shaped the meatballs into "pears" as he said or little ghost bodies. Then I baked them.

Separately, I poured some tomato sauce and garlic powder on a plate and microwaved it for 30-60 seconds to warm it up.

Tip: If your meatball ghosts are wobbly, use a knife to slice a little off of the bottom, so it's flat. :) Then they will stay in place.

As I mentioned he used Ultra-Thin cheese and then he said the heat from the meat while it is cooling down would melt the cheese.

Tip: I got regular thickness cheese, so I didn't think the heat from the meat cooling off would melt the cheese, so I decided to microwave the cheese at 10-second and 15-second intervals.

I did do what he did in terms of placement of the cheese, I put one whole circular piece of cheese and then I put a smaller little piece of circular cheese on the middle.

Here is checking on them at different times in the microwave. The big piece of cheese looks like a little ghost costume for the meatball. Haha! :)

Tip: It is important to put that smaller piece of cheese on top in the middle because then you make sure you have enough cheese there to carve the little ghost face. Otherwise, by gravity, if you just put 1 piece of cheese (without smaller little piece of cheese in the middle), then you might not have enough cheese coverage to carve the little face.

Then I just used a knife and carved the little eyes and mouth.

It looks like I'm about to stab the little ghosts. Haha! :)

Here they are! So cute and tasty too! I really liked the meatball mixture I got.

Give it a try! We are good at this!
