Homemade Pizza w/ Crispy Crust! (Tip: No Pizza Stone? No problem!)
Updated: Aug 26, 2020
I decided to try to make homemade pepperoni pizza! I used a recipe from a class on the Food Network app for the pizza crust. When I have read and seen a lot of things about pizza on YouTube, the internet or even just watching Diner's Drive-In & Dives, the oven is super hot and people use pizza stones. They use a pizza stone because it can get super hot, which makes the bottom of pizza crust crispy, but the pizza dough chewy and yummy. Yum!
But I don't have a pizza stone. So I came up with a hack based on what I did trying to make homemade Cinnamon Raisin Bread from tastylittledumpling.com for World Baking Day -- May 17. Yum! Check out that post!
But today is National Pizza Party Day!
National Pizza Party Day
"Each year on the third Friday in May, millions of pizza lovers across the nation join in extolling the qualities of pizza on National Pizza Party Day."
What I used:
- Pizza Dough (from the Food Network class)
- Marinara Sauce
- Oil (for the pan)
- All-metal baking pans / cast-iron pans
1.) Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
2.) Put oil or cooking spray on the baking pans (must be all metal) you are going to use.
** Note: Your pans can't have plastic handles or anything that may melt. The pans have to be something that will be safe (& not melt) at 500 degrees.
-- I used a 9" round cake pan and a cast iron pan -- what I had.
3.) Put the pans (w/ oil) into the oven -- without the pizza dough, so they get super hot.
4.) Roll out your dough to your desired thickness of crust.
5.) With gloves or oven mitts on, take out a pan and leave the oven ON.
6.) Carefully put your pizza dough into the pan. The baking pan is HOT!
7.) Carefully, put your sauce and toppings on the pizza.
** Photos: These baking pans were HOT!
8.) Put your pizza in the 500 degree oven for about ~8 min. or until crust is golden brown.
So yummy! The pizza crust on the Food Network app said it was no fail and they were right! And look at this crispy crust! That's it! Give it a try! We are good at this!
