For Hippo Day, I was inspired by this Pin on Pinterest for the Hippo cookies.

I used the same sugar cookie and easy non-Royal Icing icing I have made before.

I free-handed the shape of the hippo. In her post, she used a modified owl cookie cutter. Hers look better. But mine are okay. Haha! :)

Fun Facts about Hippos:

"The name Hippopotamus comes from the Ancient Greek ‘river horse’. Hippos bask on the shoreline and secrete an oily red substance, which gave rise to the myth that they sweat blood. The liquid is actually a skin moistener and sunblock that may also provide protection against germs.

An adult Hippo needs to resurface every 3 – 5mins to breathe...

Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it can easily outrun most humans. Hippos have been clocked at 30 km/h over short distances."
