Hasselback Ham -- All the Sides Inside!


I felt like making a ham for Easter weekend and I saw this on the Food Network app. I thought that it looked good and it was fun twist. All the sides are inside the ham!

What I used:

- Cured Ham (10 lbs. w/ bone)

- Yukon potatoes

- Sweet potatoes

- Maple syrup

- Brown sugar

- Cream Cheese

- Thyme






You are basically making 3 sides and stuffing them in a ham. While we think of a ham for Easter or Christmas or a holiday. They are surprisingly easy to make. The one I got was cooked and pre-slices; you just have to warm it up. You could even make one for meal prepping.


However, make sure you have enough room in your oven BEFORE you turn the oven on and it's hot -- unlike I did. Haha! I had to take out the top metal grate in the oven and put the baking pan in the bottom one.


I softened the potatoes (sweet and Yukon gold) in the microwave for a few minutes. I added Maple syrup and brown sugar to the sweet potatoes and cream cheese mixture to the potatoes. I didn't make full creamy potatoes because I didn't have cream.





I took out 1 or 2 slices to make a slot to fit some sides every few slices. Then I stuffed the different sides into the slots.


This was the resulting monstrosity! Haha! Mine was a little bit different than their recipe because the ham I got was already slices. I thought about flipping it to how a ham is normally served, but then I thought the sides would fall out of the ham.


I suppose you could turn the ham on its side and only remove slices and put some sides in the top part. :)
