Happy Jan. 15! 3 Holidays! Strawberry Ice Cream Day and Bagel & Lox Day and Hat Day!

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

You could have both Strawberry Ice Cream and Bagel & Lox at the same time I suppose, but it might be a little odd. I'm big on hats, so everyday is Hat Day for me, but I guess Jan. 15 is the day that is dedicated to them. :)

I made a Strawberry-Shaped Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwich, Everything Bagel Monkey Bread and a Chocolate Hat to celebrate them.

Check out the individual posts! :)

Strawberry-Shaped Strawberry Ice Cream Sandwich (for Strawberry Ice Cream Day)

Very easy & fun to make. I just used Pillsbury sugar cookie dough and did a little decorating.

What is Strawberry Ice Cream Day?

"January 15 is Strawberry Ice Cream Day. It is an unofficial holiday that celebrates ice cream made with strawberries or added strawberry flavors.

It is believed that the ice cream flavor, which is now popular around the world, was invented in 1813 in the United States by First Lady Dolley Madison, and it was served during her husband, President James Madison’s second inaugural banquet at the White House."

Everything Bagel Monkey Bread (for Bagel & Lox Day)

This is a recipe from Tastemade, super easy & fun.

What is Bagel & Lox Day?

"Bagel and Lox Day is an unofficial holiday dedicated to the quintessential Jewish American dish made of bagels, cream cheese, and lox or cured salmon."

This holiday of unknown origins is also often known as National Bagel Day or Bagel Day. In 2018, Thomas', a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA, decided to move the date of National Bagel Day from February 9 to January 15 to avoid competing with National Pizza Day.

Despite this, many people still prefer to celebrate this holiday on the original date of February 9.

Chocolate Hat (for Hat Day)

Wide-brimmed, of course!

What is Hat Day?

"“That season we were loaded with pizazz. Earrings of fuchsia and peach. Mind you, peach. And hats. Hats, hats, hats for career girls,” – This quote from Too Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, perhaps defines one of the most amazing things about hats. They enable the person wearing them to be absolutely anything, and to bring a sprig of style to an outfit, and truly round it out.

From protecting your head from the cold or heat of the day, to just expressing who you are to the world, Hat Day is a great day to sport your best headwear!

History of Hat Day

"Its no doubt that National Hat Day was created by a hat loving individual or group.

There is no evidence to suggest that this is truly a "National" day, which requires an act of congress."

Hats have been in the world since at least 3000 BC, as an image of a man wearing a hat of straw was discovered in a mural from that time. Since then, hats have served some incredibly diverse purposes, from simple protective wear to help those stuck out in the rain, cold, or hot sun, to indicating status and rank."
