Happy Feb. 9! Pizza Day!

It seems like everyday is pizza day because it's so popular, but Feb. 9 is Pizza Day! Below are a couple of pizzas to celebrate Pizza Day! Check out the individual posts! :)

Here are some facts about pizza:

Pizza has been around since the Neolithic ages and "the word pizza was first documented in A.D. 997 in Gaeta".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_pizza

"Some 3 billion pizzas are sold each year in the U.S. alone, an average of 46 slices per person."

https://www.historytoday.com/archive/historians-cookbook/history-pizza

Over 5 billion pizzas are sold worldwide each year.

** Does this mean that the U.S. alone is responsible for 60% of the world's consumption of pizza each year? Haha. :)

Here is a great infographic on Pizza History from Trip Savvy website.

Bacon, Onion, Pesto Pizza

This one was inspired by a recipe from Alex Guarnaschelli on the Food Network:

Flatbread With Bacon and Scallion Pesto. I made a modified version with what I had at my place. I liked the flavor combinations. I made it with pre-made pizza crust, so I guess it's a pizza (not a flatbread). :)

Here is a link with more info on the definition of pizza vs. flatbreads. I guess thin crust pizzas should really be called flatbreads. :)

Oops, I ate a bit before I took the photo. :)

Keto/Low-Carb Pepperoni Pizza

It's pizza without any carbs!
