Everything Bagel Monkey Bread (for Bagel & Lox Day, Jan. 15!)

Updated: Jan 18

This Everything Bagel Monkey Bread from a Tastemade YouTube video looked good and a fun way to celebrate Bagel & Lox Day.

What is Bagel & Lox Day?

"Bagel and Lox Day is an unofficial holiday dedicated to the quintessential Jewish American dish made of bagels, cream cheese, and lox or cured salmon."

This holiday of unknown origins is also often known as National Bagel Day or Bagel Day. In 2018, Thomas', a division of Bimbo Bakeries USA, decided to move the date of National Bagel Day from February 9 to January 15 to avoid competing with National Pizza Day.

Despite this, many people still prefer to celebrate this holiday on the original date of February 9.

Attempt #1:

They make their own Everything Bagel Spice mix, but I just bought some in a container. I guess every Everythign Bagel spice blend is a little bit different, but the main components are: "poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt."

What I used:

- not just Bagel Seasoning

- Pillsbury biscuits

- Philadelphia cream cheese

- Butter (a little)

I was making a small batch in my 4" springboard pan, so I just used 2 biscuits and I made them into smaller pieces. I was able to get 7 pieces out of 2 biscuits.

Left photo: I flattened them out & then put some cream cheese in the middle of each piece. Center photo: Then I brought the piece together into a little pouch.

Right photo: Then I put the little dough ball face down, so the side with open edges was touching the bottom of the pan; this was to help make sure the dough balls stayed together.

I put a little butter on top and then put a generous amount of the Everything Bagel seasoning on top. Then, I baked them at 350 degrees for ~15 min.

RESULT: Success! :)

We are good at this! Golden brown on the outside and cream cheesiness in the middle! They are really good!

The prep time is 2-5 min. It's an easy fun snack to or you can make a full biscuit container for a party appetizer.

Give it a try! We are good at this!
