Easy One-Pot Hot Dish: Stuffing as a Meal / Stuffing Day
You can easily turn stuffing form a side dish into a complete meal -- all in one pot (less dishes to clean)! Or you could also have this as a protein-packed side dish.
This post is for Stuffing Day!
I eat stuffing all the time, not just Thanksgiving or Stuffing Day!
What I used:
- Stovetop stuffing (1 box)
- Italian sausage (8 oz. / 1/2 package)
- Mushrooms (4 oz. / 1/2 package)
- Chicken (7 oz.)
I put some oil in a pot on medium, medium-high. I cleaned the mushrooms and patted them dry. Then I put the mushrooms and sausage into brown first.
This was actually 16 oz. of sausage and 8 oz. of mushrooms; you could leave it all in. I took half out before adding the chicken or stuffing, so I could use it for other recipes (like making a quick pizza or pasta).
The picture on the right is after I took out half the sausage/mushroom mix and added the chicken
Then I added the box of stuffing mixture.
** There were some juices/ liquid that came from sauteing the sausage,
so I only added 1/2 cup of water (less than what is on the box).
I would start with 1/2 cup of water and then mix it and see if it is the texture you like. You can always add more water. If it gets too watery, it's hard to correct it.
Here it is! Give it a try! We are good at this!
