Crispy & Cheesy Crab Cakes
Updated: Aug 25, 2020

If you would like a crispy cheesy twist for your crab cake or your crab cake is falling apart (like mine was, haha! :), you can try to add some cheese! It added a nice crispy crust and was a good binder. See below.
You can add shredded cheese to your crab cake recipe or mix it in with a pre-made crab cake like I did.
You can also shape it into a cute crab like I did here. Haha! :) It's just some pizza dough shaped like the legs and claws.

What I used:
- 1/2 pre-made crab cake (from the grocery store. Normally I cook them fresh, but I had frozen it as part of my stockpiling. I then defrosted it in the fridge for a couple days and I forgot about it in the fridge after defrosting, so it got a little dry, haha. :)
- 1-2 oz. of shredded cheese (cheddar in this case)
- butter for sauteeing (You can use oil)
There is food coloring in the picture; I tried painting him red-orange with a mixture of food coloring and butter, but it didn't work and he looked better without food coloring.

I mixed in the cheese with the crabcake as I would mix a burger or meatball mixture.
Cook the crab cake by sauteing it on both sides for a few minutes as you normally would. It looks like some of the cheese mixture is leaking out, but it's fine, it hardens up and provides a nice crispy crust on the outside with some melt-y cheese. You can just kind of push the cheese back towards the crab cake with your spatula before you flip it.

While I was doing this, I just shaped some Pillsbury pizza dough as the legs and claws and then baked them at 400 degrees. :)
Then I put them together. It was a tasty cute appetizer! :) Give it a try! We are good at this!
