Crepe Cake with Nutella
Here is a crepe cake or layered crepes filled with Nutella! Yum! I used to get crepes with Nutella at a place by my house growing up. Yum!
Feb. 2 is Day of the Crepe!
"Called jour des crêpes, the holiday is associated with the Catholic feast of Candlemas. On this day households all over France make crêpes. This is because it is believed that crêpes symbolize prosperity."
I have made crepes before and pretty successfully, too! Haha! :) This time I used evaporated milk (in a can) because I didn't have regular milk. I thought it would work out, but I wasn't exactly sure, so I decided to experiment.
I used this recipe from abakingjourney.com I found on Pinterest
I made 1/2 a recipe because I only had 2 eggs left (enough for 1 1/2 vs. 3 eggs). :)
What I used:
- Fine sugar
- Butter (Melted)
- Evaporated milk (2/3 can is 1 cup / the amount needed for 1/2 of this recipe)
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 eggs
- Powdered sugar
Here is the mixture before I put it in the fridge to chill. The evaporated milk had pretty much the same consistency of regular milk. :) I let it chill for about 1 hour; you can chill ~24 hours.
I put some oil in the pan on medium or so and made each crepe -- like a thin pancake.
To make the crepe cake. I put some Nutella in between each layer.
Then I cut it into fourths, which is more than enough for 1 person.
This is 1/4 of the crepes made with some powdered sugar.
Then I stacked the rest of them on each other for fun -- for a mega-piece! :)
