Corn Dog Cornbread (4 ingredients)
Updated: Aug 28
This is a fun twist on a corn dog, which is easy and looks kind of fancy even. Haha! :) I came up with this fun easy recipe (4 ingredients) inspired by "Corn Dog Day".
Corn Dog Day
"While the jury’s still out on knowing exactly who invented the corn dog, one thing is certain: It’s about as American as food items get. Cornmeal was a staple of the Native American diet, and hot dogs are an American adaptation of a German classic. The marriage of these ingredients led to the creation of an item that dominated a fair share of 20th century grab-and-go food sales, and in the process, became a cultural icon. On March 16, we celebrate the corn dog’s iconic status with National Corn Dog Day!"
- Lit'l Smokies (or hot dogs cut into ~2 " pieces)
- Jiffy cornbread mix (prepared according to the box)
1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2.) Prepare Jiffy cornbread according to box.
-- I used my hack to prepare it in the baking pan I was going to put in the oven (link). Easy & less mess for you! Check it out.
3.) Put your Lit'L Smokies in the cornbread batter as shown
-- 1 Lit'l Smokie about 1" (~2.56 cm) apart in a line as shown -- with long-end of the Lit'l Smokie perpendicular to the long edge of the bread loaf pan.
-- This way it's easy to slice the bread; you don't have to cut through a Lit'l Smokie to get a slice of the Corn Dog Cornbread. However, it's no biggie -- worst comes to worst, if it falls apart, you just eat it with a spoon and fork. :)
4.) Bake for ~15-17 min. or until the cornbread is done.
That's it! Give it a try! We are good at this!
