Cinna-bear (Making Cinnamon rolls out of Pre-Made Pizza Crust / Teddy Bear Picnic Day)
Updated: Aug 25
This is a Teddy Bear twist on something I wrote about before using pizza crust to make Cinnamon Rolls! Of course, there are pre-made Cinnamon Rolls, but if you don't have them or want to try it, you can turn pizza crust (which is just plain dough) into a baked cinnamon sugar treat.
Baking the brown sugar with cinnamon gives it a nice brown Teddy Bear color, but you could do a chocolate twist and top the dough with chocolate.
This is for Teddy Bear Picnic Day!
Teddy Bear Picnic Day
"On this gorgeous summer day, take your teddy bear (or teddy bears) out for a day in the sun. It's time for a Teddy Bear Picnic! Have mom make a few PB& J sandwiches, some cookies, and a jug of Kool-Aid. Take a blanket out under a shade tree, and enjoy lunch with your Teddy.
Our research did not find the creator, or the origin of this day.
One reader suggests that this day may have had something to do with a 1950's television show called Teddy Bears' Picnic. It was sponsored my Pet Ice Cream - Brown Bear and Brown Mule - chocolate pop-icicles."
What I used:
- Pillsbury Pizza Crust
- Butter (1 pat or a little more; not all that is shown)
- Brown sugar (2 or 3 teaspoons; not all that is shown)
- Cinnamon (1/2 teaspoon or teaspoon; a lot accidentally fell into the mixture, haha! You can adjust amount of cinnamon to your liking)
- Frosting (bowtie, optional)
- Red Food coloring (bow tie, optional; you can do any color)
- 2 white chocolate melting wafer / white candy melt) (eyes)
- 2 brown M&Ms (eyes)
- 1/4 of dark chocolate melting wafer (bear nose)
1.) Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2.) Shape your dough into teddy bear head shape. Optional: Second piece is a bowtie.
3.) In a bowl or plate, melt the butter in microwave (20-30 seconds or a little longer), then add your brown sugar and cinnamon.
4.) Spread the cinnamon mixture over your teddy bear. Leave bowtie plain.
5.) Bake for 8-10 min. -- time dependent on how big your teddy bear is. Bigger may take longer; smaller may be shorter.
6.) Wait around 5-10 min. for it to cool before adding the face. (Or it might melt off! :) )
7.) Nose: Using a butterknife or other tool, cut a dark chocolate wafer into 3 or 4 pieces, use 1 piece for the nose. (Eat the rest, haha! or save the rest for use later)
8.) Eyes: Put white chocolate on top of the face and add 1 brown M&M onto each eye.
9.) Optional bowtie: color some frosting red or any color you like and spread it on the bowtie.
Ready for a Teddy Bear Picnic! Haha! :) Give it a try! We are good at this!
