Cheesy Pigs in a Blanket / Pigs in a Blanket Day
Pigs in a Blanket are a fav appetizer around here! This version only has 3 ingredients, but it's really tasty!
These were inspired by #PigsinaBlanketDay
Here's a link to what I made last year.
What I used:
- Nathan's Hot Dogs (cut lengthwise and then into 4 pieces; 8 pieces per hot dog)
- Kraft American Cheese (1/4 or 1/6 of a slice per appetizer)
- Pillsbury Crescent dough (1/2 piece for each blanket)
Note: I have also tried it with pizza dough. It works well too; just a different texture. Both are tasty!
For a little more flavor, after I cut the hot dog in half lengthwise, I browned it in a little oil in a nonstick pan. Then I cut each half into 4 pieces for 8 pieces per hot dog.
When you roll out the Crescent Dough, there are performation for each crescent. To make these mini-pigs in a blanket, I cut each of these pieces in half.
I folded 1 slice of cheese in half and then into 1/3 for 6 small pieces of cheese or I folded it into 4 pieces. Then I took each 1/4 or 1/6 piece slice and folded it in half again (if needed to fit into the 1/2 piece of crescent.
To assemble each appetizer, I put a small piece of cheese and a piece of hot dog and wrapped it together.
Then I baked it at 400 degrees for ~15 min. or so. until the dough was baked. You don't have to worry really because the hot dog is already cooked.
Ta da! Cheesy! Yummy Pigs in a Blanket!
Give it a try! We are good at this!
