Can I Make "Straw into Gold: Rumpelstiltskin's Brown Butter Parmesan Pasta"?
Updated: Feb 27
I found this cute dish on Pinterest from Alison's Wonderland Recipes. There's a lot more "Fairy Tale Food" out there than you might think, haha! I was interested in making savory foods that had a literary twist and Alison's Wonderland recipes was a perfect fit. All the recipes on her website -- savory and sweet -- are inspired by classic literature.
I made a couple substitutions based on what I had and for fun. I added gold lustre dust to emphasize the straw turning into gold. :) She uses Asiago and parmesan, but I didn't have any Asiago. Also I used garlic spread I had on hand rather than fresh garlic.
- Angel Hair
- Panko bread crumbs
- Lemon Juice
- Garlic Spread
- Gold Lustre Dust
It's really easy to make. You boil some angel hair in a pot and at the same time in a pan, you melt butter and crisp up some panko bread crumbs (Yum!). I added the garlic spread in there too.
Then I added the pasta, some parmesan cheese and mixed it all together.
We are good at this! It is really yummy! The crispy panko bread crumbs are really good! Though it has a fun name, it's also just a good pasta dish that's pretty fast & easy to make.
As I mentioned above, I added gold lustre dust to emphasize the Rumpelstiltskin-ness of the dish. However, if you are making it on an everyday basis, you don't need the gold lustre dust or maybe you do? It makes it more fun and whimsical for yourself! :)
Give it a try! We are good at this!
