Can I Make "Perfectly Crispy Baked Tofu"?
Updated: Aug 25, 2020
This crispy tofu from Eyes Closed Cooking on Pinterest looked really good, so I wanted to try it! When I have cooked tofu before, it tasted really good, but I didn't get the crispiness I like when I have ordered it from restaurants. Her website had some really good tips on how to get the tofu crispy that I wanted to try out for myself.
I made a smaller individual portion. I actually used 1/2 package (~7-8 oz.).
What I used:
- Extra Firm Tofu (learned there were different kinds of tofu, haha!; check it out in my other post.)
- Oilve oil
- Garlic powder
- Onion Powder
- Black Pepper
- Corn starch (not picture)
One of the good tips she had which makes sense, but I never thought of: is that you can get some moisture out of it by putting weight on it and using paper towels. I came up with this contraption, haha!
Then I put the spices and mixed them together using a container with closed lid, so it wouldn't go everywhere as she notes in her recipe.
I baked it at 400 degrees for 15 min. and then I flipped them and baked them for another 15 min.
RESULT: Success! :)
We are good at this! They were really crispy and tasty! I will use eyeclosedcooking.com tips when making crispy tofu for other recipes too!
Give it a try! We are good at this!
