Can I Make "Penguin Slice & Bake Cookies"?

I saw these "Penguin Slice & Bake Cookies" on the Food Network app and I had to try them. I first saw some slice & bake cookies on a Christmas cookie competition on the Food Network and I was intrigued by the mathematics behind it. You have to plan the cookie design in 3-D, so you get your desired result in 2-D when you slice them.

I also decided to make them because my mini-Igloo cake needed some inhabitants. :)

The Food Network app has good instructions and the premium part has some great detailed content and additional instructions, as well as other classes and videos etc. You can check out the recipe here.

It is a basic sugar cookie dough and then you have to make each piece of the penguin body and place it in the roll, so that when you slice it, you get a bunch of cute penguins.

Then, you decorate them. I added candy eyes and then did some with the santa hats with red candy melts and 1/2 mini-marshmallow as in the recipe.

Here they are before decorating.

RESULT: Success!

We are good at this! How cute are they? I also put a couple of the penguins in my mini-Igloo display. :) See below this next row of pics.

Give it a try! We are good at this!
