Can I Make "Easy Sugar Cookie Bars"?
I wanted to make sugar cookie bars and these from upstateramblings.com on Pinterest looked tasty and good!
What I used:
- 1/4 cup Cream cheese (room temp)
- 3/8 cup Butter (room temp)
- 3/4 cup Sugar
- 1 1/4 cup Flour
- 1/2 tsp Baking powder
- 1/4 tsp Baking soda
- 1/2 tsp Mint extract (in place of vanilla; didn't have vanilla and it has similar viscosity)
- 1/2 egg
I just made a half recipe. I never thought about it before, but I was surprised that cream cheese was in the recipe. It makes sense; other cookie recipes use butter, sugar, flour, etc., so you need another ingredient to make them into cookie bars (vs. cookies). Haha! :)
Here is the butter and cream cheese. Here is the dough before baking. It's a thick dough as you might expect. :)
After baking, I decided to cut them into skinny rectangles for decorating. :)
RESULT: Success! :)
We are good at this! :) They are tasty and a good cookie bar for decorating! I decided to dip some in white chocolate. These are Bald Eagles and some with some patriotic sprinkles.
Check out the Bald Eagle Cookie Bar post.
Give it a try! We are good at this!
