Can I Make "Chicken Salsa Verde Pizza"? (/ How to Make a Turtle Pizza)
Updated: Aug 26, 2020

I saw this Chicken Salsa Verde Pizza on Twitter from 24bite / @kidswanttocook and I wouldn't have thought to mashup Mexican food with pizza, so I decided to make one inspired by it! :)
I also decided to make it shaped like a turtle for Turtle Day. Haha! :)

Attempt #1:
I was just making a small kind of appetizer / snack portion for myself.

What I used:
- Pillsbury pizza dough
- Stonewall Kitchen Salsa Verde
- Daisy Sour Cream
- Cream Cheese
- Garlic powder
- Shredded cheddar
- Optional for turtle head, legs, and tail: green gel food coloring
To make the turtle:
I shaped the body with some dough. Then I took some more dough and shaped a head, 4 same size smaller pieces for the legs and then a tinier piece for the tail.
For fun, I added green gel food coloring to the pizza dough for the head, legs and tail.
I placed them next to each other, but then I baked them separately. I suppose I could have tried to bake them all pressed together as one piece.
I baked the dough for 5-7 min. at 400 degrees.

While it was in the oven, I prepared the topping. I mixed some cream cheese garlic powder, salsa verde, chicken and garlic powder in a bowl. Then I microwaved it for ~60 seconds, so it could get soft.
I took out the pizza dough and spread the chicken mixture on the body and then I topped it with some shredded cheddar. I baked it for another 5-7 minutes until the cheese was nice and melty and everything was warm.
RESULT: Success!
We are good at this! Very tasty flavor combo and unexpected pizza! It's another idea for what to do with taco flavors / another idea for pizza. :)
And the turtle pizza is cute too!
Give it a try! We are good at this!
