Can I Make "BFF Shrimp"?
Updated: Aug 29
This is a really easy cute recipe from Giada de Laurentiis of the Food Network that is perfect for Valentine's Day or for anytime of year. So they can be BFF or Lover Shrimp, haha! :)
She uses puff pastry. I couldn't find it at the store; I didn't look that hard. Haha. I knew I had pre-made pie crust at home, which I thought would work.
What I used:
- Pillsbury pie crust
- Cooked shrimp
- Sauces: Pesto and Marinara sauce
The basic steps are:
- You cut out heart shapes
- You put 1 shrimp down & then fold it in 1/2 to make 1/2 of a heart.
- Then, you flip 1 of each pair of heart halves to form a heart.
The benefit of using puff pastry is that the 2 pieces will bake together into 1 appetizer, which you can break apart with your BFF or your lover. Haha. :)
I just rolled out some pie dough and cut out some heart shapes. I didn't have any heart-shaped cookie cutters. I made sure the hearts were big enough to fit 1 shrimp.
I put my shrimp down & folded them in half, flipped 1 of 2 and baked them.
RESULT: Success! :)
We are good at this! How cute are they? Some sauces she uses are pesto or marinara sauce, which I used too. I shaped them into a heart as well. :)
It's really easy and fancy looking. They are really good!
Give it a try! We are good at this!
