Butternut Squash and Mushroom Galette / Old Stuff Day
l decided to post this for #OldStuffDay because I got the recipe from this small old InStyle Cookbook/Party Planning book my Mom had lying around. This particular recipe was for a woodlands themed party, but it is tasty any day! :)
Galettes sound and look kind of fancy, but it is a free-form cake -- you can't really mess it up! They can have anything inside and they look really elegant.
Old Stuff Day!
What I used:
- 1 Pillsbury Pie Crust
- Frozen Butternut Squash (pre-cut)
- Frozen Mushrooms
- Parmesan (1/3 cup to 1/2 cup)
- Frozen Onion
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
I was using frozen butternut squash, mushrooms and onions. I microwaved them for ~2 min. to make sure they were room temp. Then, important step, I made sure the veggies were really dry by using paper towels. If the veggies are soggy, the entire galette will be soggy.
The photos show when they are frozen (on the left), then microwave and paper towels (not shown). Right photo: Heating up the filling on the stove and adding the spices.
You roll out the dough and put your filling inside and add the cheese into the mixture. Then, you fold over the edges and bake until golden brown! That's it!
Then, you have an elegant galette!
Give it a try! We are good at this!
