Buffalo Chicken & Blue Cheese Nuggets / (Tip: Making Frozen Nuggets Taste Fried)

Here is a quick (and I mean quick!) appetizer or lunch/dinner idea! One of the tricks is to make microwave nuggets taste better; they can get a little soggy. I'm posting this for Fried Chicken Day; they are not fried, but they kind of taste like they are fried, so it kind of fits! And so it's a little healthy food tip.

I actually love fried chicken, but I always get from restaurants because I think they would do it better than me. Haha! :)

Fried Chicken Day

In the United States, July 6th chicken lovers across the country recognize National Fried Chicken Day by feasting at a nearby restaurant, home, or an outdoor picnic.

Scottish immigrants brought their tradition of deep-frying chicken in fat to the southern United States. After its introduction to the American South, fried chicken soon became a staple. Over time, cooks added seasonings and spices to enrich the flavor of the chicken.


What I used:

- Tyson frozen chicken nuggets

- Blue cheese crumbles

- Hot sauce

I microwaved a few nuggets for 2 minutes as on the package. While they were in the microwave, I put a non-stick pan (with no oil) onto medium on the stove.

When I took the nuggets out of the microwave, the side touching the plate is usually a little mushy.

Tip: To crisp up mushy nuggets, I put them mushy side down into the non-stick pan (no oil) for 1 minute or so. You can also flip them and crisp up the other side if you want.

Then I just added blue cheese and hot sauce. The extra minute or so in the pan made the nuggets really crispy and taste like they were fried -- with no additional calories!
