Bombay Chicken Burger w/ Spinach Yogurt Sauce

This is shown on Naan to be fancy looking (haha!), but it's really fast (10 min. or less) & easy to make! I came up with this Indian twist on burgers after I made a different international twist on burgers I got from the Food Network: Kofte Burger.

Below, you'll see I made it 2 ways: on a bun (a Telera Bun actually, which is a Mexican bun; you can use any hamburger bun) and also on Naan. I wanted to try making Naan and it was an Indian-inspired burger (check out that post) so I thought that would be fun.

You could also eat it without a bun for a low-carb option.

Kofte Burger with Harissa & Yogurt Sauce


What I used:

- Ground chicken (~8 oz. for two 4-oz. patties)

- Bombay Biryani spice mix (~3-4 teaspoons, about 1 teaspoon per oz. of meat. You could just spiciness -- adding more or less if you want)

- Colby cheese (you could have a different cheese or leave it off completely)

Yogurt Sauce

- Garlic Powder

- True Lemon powder (didn't have lemon juice)

- Greek yogurt

- Frozen spinach

First, I put my grill pan on the stove on high. I didn't even add any other binder or ingredients; just ground chicken and spices.

Here it is cooking on my grill pan on the stove.

While they were cooking, I made the quick yogurt sauce. I microwaved and cooked the frozen spinach (~1 min.) Then I mixed it with the yogurt, garlic powder and lemon powder. Yum!

Then I put the yogurt sauce on top of the burger. See below for both versions!

It was really yummy and easy to make! And it was another way to use the Bombay Biryani spice mix I got other than for biryani. Here's a post about Biryani.
