Blue Moon Ice Cream / Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day
Updated: Aug 25, 2020
I was introduced to Blue Moon Ice Cream by thespruceeats.com via Flipboard. It has a fun name, looked tasty and I had Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day on my mind, so I wanted to try it! It has a raspberry lemon flavor.
"Blue moon ice cream is a unique ice cream flavor typically found in the Upper Midwest portion of the United States. It is said to have originated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and is known for the signature bright blue hue."
National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! July 1st marks National Creative Ice Cream Flavors Day, a day to sample or wonder about the odd combinations of ice cream flavors. Skip the traditional chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry ice cream when you celebrate this holiday!
What I used:
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Raspberry Lemonade powder
- Blue gel food coloring
- Violet gel food coloring (not shown)
The original recipe was to make ice cream from scratch with raspberry and lemon flavorings. The blue color in the original is also from food coloring.
I decided to try to do a quick version and try to achieve the same flavors with raspberry lemonade powder. I just mixed it all together.
The photo on the right only has blue food coloring. To achieve, the desired blue color, I also also added some violet food coloring to blue.
Then I put it back in the freezer to refreeze it.
It was very tasty and fun & easy to do. Give it a try! We are good at this!
