A TTTFN NYE! (Tasty, Twisted, Tastemade, Food Network)

It was a TTTFN NYE, actually a TTTFN YT NYE because I also learned some things and was inspired by other YouTubers!

Stay tuned for the individual posts! :)

"Whimsical Forest" Appetizer Plate

The plating was inspired by the Tastemade video with the whimsical mushroom garden rigatoni I made before (see link) and different plating videos I saw on YouTube. It didn't turn out exactly as I had envisioned it, but it was a fun artistic activity. Haha. :) And it all tasted good. I garnished the platter with some edible flowers, which goes along with the whimsical forest (haha :) ) and also some parsely, which looks like little green trees or other greenery in a forest.

- Cheesy Spinach Bacon Dip with Frico (Parmesan Crisps) from Tasty makes a reappearance as the green grassy pathway in the middle. The frico are under the mushroom tarts. I also made it for the Christmas feast (see link).

- Mushroom tarts: They are my own recipes: some have brie and others have a spinach/cheese mixture. The brie ones were inspired by different Twisted recipes.

NYE Surf & Turf: Chimichurri Beef and Seared Scallops w/ Potato Volcanos and Spinach

Tell me you wouldn't pay $30-$50 for this surf & turf. Haha. :) I'm kind of obsessed with surf & turf. I like to eat high protein and surf & turf gives you 2 kinds of protein in one dish! It's cheaper to make than you think. Scallops are more expensive than shrimp, but not that bad and it's much less than it costs to order it in a restaurant. 3 oz. of scallops has 17-20 grams of protein! A lot of protein bang for your buck.

I had been afraid to make scallops because I didn't want to mess it up and it looked hard, but I learned from watching this video (below) from Sam the Cooking Guy and they turned out pretty well.

The beef is pre-made with chimichurri sauce that I got from the grocery store that I really like. Chimichurri is an Argentinian sauce made of finely chopped parsley, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano and red wine vinegar.

The potato volcanos (twice baked potatoes in fun volcano shape) are from a Tastemade video and the spinach is some microwaved frozen spinach with cheese. Looks pretty fancy, huh? :)

Stay tuned for the individual posts! We are good at this!
